Before you apply

Confirm the vehicle is eligible

Give the lender the year, make, model, mileage, price, and seller type. Collector-car loans may have different requirements from everyday used-car loans.

Compare the full cost

Ask about APR, fees, down payment, loan term, and prepayment conditions. A smaller monthly payment can mean a higher total cost over a longer term.

Coordinate with the seller

Ask the lender how funds are delivered and how it handles an existing lien or private-party title transfer before you agree on a closing date.

Research the vehicle separately

A financing approval is not a condition report. Use official recall and title-history resources alongside an independent inspection.
